Xiaomi enters UAE to mark their foray into the Middle East

Xiaomi global launch spree continues with the UAE being the new destination. The Chinese smartphone brand has now tied up with Dubai based Task FZCO and local carrier Etisalat to bring their brand to the UAE market.

According to a report by a local daily, a number of Xiaomi smartphones will go on sale in the country soon. These include the Redmi 2 Pro, Redmi Note 2, Mi4i and the Mi Note. Besides that, Xiaomi's local distributor for the Middle East, Task FZCO has announced their plans to take bring the smartphones to Saudi Arabia as well.

"We are truly excited to bring Xiaomi's range of mobile devices to the UAE. With the core value proposition of high quality smartphones packed with features well above their price point, we hope to become a significant player in the market," said Givemore Gurira, Chief Operating Officer, TASK FZCO.

Xiaomi has also outed the local pricing of the handsets as the Redmi 2, Redmi Note 2, Mi4i and Mi Note will go on sale at a price of AED 449 (Rs 7,930 approx.), AED 719 (Rs 12,740 approx.), AED 899 (Rs 15,925 approx.) and AED 1699 (Rs 30,095 approx.)

Commenting on the launch, Khaled ElKhouly, Chief Commercial Officer at Etisalat, said "we are pleased to add the Mi brand exclusively to our existing line up of advanced mobile devices. Just to recall Xiaomi presently operates in a China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, India and Brazil. Recently the world's third largest smartphone maker made an entry into Africa.
