Xiaomi Mi 7 likely pegged for February 2018 launch
Xiaomi Mi 7 might arrive earlier than its schedule.
Xiaomi is done with the launch of its flagship smartphones for this year. Notably, the company is yet to release these devices in the Indian market. In the meantime, there is some fresh information about the upcoming flagship - the Mi 7.
Well, the recent speculation is that Xiaomi will unveil the Mi 7 early next year. According to a report by GizChina citing Chinese sources, the Mi 7 will be launched sometime in February 2018. This report comes soon after the details regarding the early launch schedule of the alleged OnePlus 6 smartphone hit the web earlier this week. Given a February launch date, we can believe the same to happen during the next year's Mobile World Congress (MWC).
Going by a previous report, Xiaomi and Qualcomm are working in order to optimize the Snapdragon 845 SoC that will be the upcoming chipset used by flagships launching next year. This chipset is being optimized by the companies so that it can be used by the Mi 7. Xiaomi is believed to start with the testing of the next generation flagship smartphone in November this year so that the final testing will happen in February 2018.
From the existing rumors and leaks, we believe that the Xiaomi Mi 7 would bestow a large OLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The OLED panel is said to be made by Samsung. As the display will be a tall one, the device will not have a fingerprint sensor at the front. Also, the chances of an in-display fingerprint sensor are bleak. The Snapdragon 845 SoC is said to be made using the 10nm LPE FinFET process. This chipset will support download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps.
Lately, we saw that Xiaomi has been added as a member of the Wireless Power Consortium tipping that the Mi 7 might support wireless charging. As per the previous reports, the smartphone will feature a glass ceramic rear panel. The device is said to be launched in two variants - 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM. It is claimed to have a dual rear camera setup as the Mi 6.
