Recently, a leaked poster suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 7 could be unveiled on May 23. But the company is yet to come up with an official confirmation regarding the launch date of the device. Though this poster could be fake, there are speculations that the flagship smartphone could be unveiled in the first half of this year.
Being the flagship model, Mi 7 is one of the most important products from the company. Initially, it was speculated to be unveiled in the first quarter of the year but the company announced the Mi Mix 2S as the flagship device. Now, the fresh information is that the Mi 6 successor could be unveiled along with the Mi Band 3 by the end of this month.
According to a post by Weibo-based tipster @IceUniverse, the Mi 7 could be officially announced by the end of this month. In addition to this tweet, another reliable tipster with the Weibo account @Kumamoto Technology claims that the launch event for the device will happen at Shenzhen. He also adds that the smartphone will be accompanied by the Mi Band 3.
With many rumors and leaks regarding the Mi 7 hitting the web, even the company is expected to tease the features of the handset soon. Recently, we saw a set of TPU cases of the smartphone emerge online showing some features of the device.
Rumored specs and features
Also, a few recent reports have confirmed that there will be a notched design. The notch on top of the display is likely to house the selfie camera and a sensor. The other aspects we can expect to see in the upcoming smartphone are 3D facial recognition, support for wireless charging and an under-display fingerprint sensor.
Speculation is that there will be a larger smartphone with the moniker Mi 7 Plus. Both these smartphones are likely to use the most powerful Snapdragon 845 SoC. These phones are said to feature 5.65-inch and 6.01-inch OLED displays respectively.
Xiaomi Mi Band 3
Talking about the Mi Band 3, the next-generation smartwatch could be launched with an OLED display and support for gestures. The other aspects to be included in this wearable are an IP67 certified chassis and NFC support.
