Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G Launching Today: Here’s Everything We Know About The Powerful Redmi Smartphone

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G is about to launch in China. Xiaomi has been teasing the smartphone via its social media channels. The brand even released a few posters highlighting key specifications and features of "the most powerful Redmi smartphone".

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset powers the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G, making it the most powerful Android smartphone in the Note 12 series. It is the seventh Android smartphone in the series.

Where To Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G Launch Event?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 lineup currently includes the Redmi Note 12 4G, the Redmi Note 12 5G, the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition, and the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition.

Most of these Android smartphones have been launched outside of China. Hence, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G, which will launch in China today, will likely be available in other countries in the next few weeks.

Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G today, March 28, at 7pm CST (5:30am IST, March 29). The company will also stream the announcement via its official Weibo account. The brand may offer a live stream via its official YouTube channel as well.

Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G Specifications, Features

Xiaomi released several posters in the last few days, highlighting the key specifications of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G. The brand claims the Turbo edition will be the first smartphone in the world to feature the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC, and seemingly, no other brand has launched their smartphones with this SoC yet.

The 4nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC, which powers the Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G, is a trimmed-down version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The SoC has an Adreno 725 GPU.

Xiaomi has confirmed the Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G will feature as much as 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The claimed RAM may include virtual RAM, which repurposes a few GB of internal storage as virtual memory.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G features a 6.67-inch 12-bit Full HD+ OLED display with 1920Hz pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming and HDR10+ support. Another poster revealed the smartphone with a flat display and a center-aligned hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera, which could have a 16MP lens.

The triple rear camera setup on the Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G has a 64MP primary camera with OIS. The specifications of the other two camera modules remain a mystery. There could be a 16MP front-facing camera.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo has a 5,000mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims, can offer "1.33 days" of battery life. The phone has a thickness of just 7.9mm and weighs 181g. The smartphone has an NFC chip as well.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G will run MIUI 14, based on Android 13. Previous reports have suggested the Redmi smartphone may have an under-display fingerprint scanner instead of a side-mounted one.
