Xiaomi Redmi S2 leaked images reveal specs and design

Xiaomi is all set to launch its upcoming Redmi S2, but the company is pretty serious about the secrecy of this budget handset. A few weeks back XDA Developers had spotted the details of the phone in firmware files. According to some reports the Redmi S2 is expected to be a budget phone with face unlock and dual cameras.

These features make it more interesting because currently only the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S offers face unlocking features in the Xiaomi's portfolio.

But here is the news, a Czech Republic-based website Svetandroida has published some high-resolution images of the Redmi S2 in all its glory. The images reveal the body design, front and rear panel of the smartphone. The device in the photos appears to be in a Rose Gold variant.

The image showcases a fingerprint scanner at the rear along with a vertically placed dual camera setup on the top left of the phone. Antenna lines curve by the top and bottom edges of the phone, with the volume rocker and power buttons on the right side of the device.

An earlier leak on TENAA, it was suggested that the Redmi S2 will come with a 3,080mAh battery. But the new revelation, the Redmi S2 is expected to have a 4,205mAh battery instead.

Specifications

If we believe the previous rumors, then the Redmi S2 comes with an HD+ display along with the aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. For now, there is no information available on the screen size.

Under the hood, the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, clubbed with 2Gb or 3GB RAM. The same chipset was used in the Redmi Note 4 and the Note 5 which were priced at Rs 10,000. The will come with a couple of storage option, which can be expanded with the help of microSD card. So far the details on the storage options are also not disclosed.

As far as cameras are concerned, the smartphone houses a dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor from Sony and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor from Samsung. On the front, the Redmi S2 sports a 5-megapixel front-facing single camera setup.

The interesting part is that the images which were published by the Svetandroida website are not been taken down, but BRG manages to save some of them. However, it's better not to believe any rumors right now and wait for the official launch.
