YU recently launched their budget device in the India market dubbed as the YU Yunique, the device flaunts almost all features that is found on the company's highly successful Yuphoria smartphone.

YU has priced the Yunique at Rs. 4,999 thereby placing it in direct competition with the Micromax Spark. In terms of specifications, the Yunique features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC, sports a 5 inch HD display on the front, 8 megapixel f2.0 rear camera and 2 megapixel front snapper with 83 degree wide angle view. The battery is modest at 2000mAh.

The smartphone will go on sale from starting today on Snapdeal via Flash Sale. Registration for the sale has already started.

The Best:

The YU Yunique sports a 4.7 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels that translates to 312ppi pixel density. The display also comes with five-point multi-touch feature along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Primary Camera

The Best:

The smartphone comes with a 8 megapixel primary camera on the back that is capable of capturing images at 3264x2448 pixels resolution and video at 1080p at 30fps. The camera also features autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama.


The Best:

The handset is powered by a processor along with a graphic processing unit making it a decent smartphone for gaming. It is powered by Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset at 1.2GHz quad-core processing speed, paired with Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on Cyanogen OS 12.1 based-on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.

Slim And Lightweight

The smartphone is slim in nature measuring 8.3mm and lightweight (128 grams) making it comfortable to hold in hands and travel light.

Front-Facing Camera

The Worst:

The smartphone flaunts a 2 megapixel front-facing camera and has a fixed focus. Taking selfie with the 2 megapixel fixed focus camera is not a good option for selfie lovers.


The Worst:

The smartphone comes with 2000mAh battery, which is a bit lower side when the smartphone is powered by Snapdragon processor and Adreno GPU. Moreover, the battery is non-removable.

No Gyroscope

The Worst:

The handset lacks some of the sensors including Gyroscope, which is essential for tracking the screen orientation.

No Infrared

The Worst:

Infrared sensor is used to control home electronics appliances, but the YU Yunique lacks this too.

The YU Yunique is exclusively selling the smartphone with its e-commerce site Snapdeal upon registration. First you need to register for the product and then wait for 5 to 10 days to go for sale. Well, if you are unlucky you need to wait for next sale.
