Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Hands On Review: Awesome Camera, Ordinary Smartphone
Software/ User Interface
The handset comes pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and of course, the latest version of TouchWiz Nature UX. If you've used Samsung's Android phones before, then you won't find any surprises with the S4. Samsung also offers some of its pre-loaded apps on the S4 Zoom.
This includes apps like S Planner, Voice Recorder, ChatOn messaging app, Paper Artist, Samsung Apps app store, and much more
Performance
The spec sheet says that the S4 Zoom packs a along with 1.5GB of RAM and a Mali 400 chip for processing graphics.
Starting with the phone's user performance, everything was smooth and decent. No, it does not offer an experience that's as silky and smooth as seen on Nexus phones. We also experienced the occasional lag in apps and menus. There were no problems when it came to multi tasking with apps.
Casual gaming with titles like Subway Surfer and Temple Run work smoothly. However, go for more intense titles, and you will come across some lags.
And then comes the most important test of smartphones, running multiple tabs on the Chrome browser. We had no problems running up to five tabs simultaneously, which is quite good.
Battery
We put the handset through an hour of YouTube, about twenty five pictures with the Xenon flash on. And then about thirty minutes of calling. We even played some music over earphones for about an hour and used 3G services to browse the internet and watch a few more videos. And there was also about an hour of WhatsApp through out the day. In the end, we were able to go for about nine hours on a single charge, which is pretty good for a phone of this cadre.
