Made by Google 2024 Launch Event Highlights: New Pixel Phones, Two Watches, and an Earbuds
At the Made by Google 2024 event, held in Mountain View, California, Google launched its next-gen Pixel 9 series phones, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Buds 2 Pro. While the major focus of the event was the introduction of Gemini AI across all new devices, both the latest wearables also bring some upgrades. Let's take a look at the major highlights from the Made by Google 2024 launch event.
Google Pixel 9 Series
The next-gen Pixel 9 series includes - Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold. All the models are powered by the Tensor G4 chipset; however, the camera and display vary, with the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro having different combinations of wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold gets a unique camera island.

While all models get several AI features, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold brings the best of Google's AI, allowing users to multitask in SplitScreen and users will be able to access extra AI capabilities, with one year of the Google One AI Premium plan which includes Gemini Advanced, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, and 2 TB of Cloud Storage. On the software front, all models of the Pixel 9 series are confirmed to receive seven years of Android OS and security updates.
Pixel Buds Pro 2
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 brings significant upgrades, including enhanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and AI integration. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are powered by Google's custom-designed Tensor A1 chip, a significant advancement that drives the audio processing and AI functionalities of the earbuds.
Google claims this updated ANC system can cancel twice as much noise as the previous model. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 integrate seamlessly with Google's AI platform, Gemini, allowing for hands-free voice commands.
Pixel Watch 3
Now, the Pixel Watch 3 comes in two screen sizes - 41mm and 45mm. Even Google has used an Actua display instead of the AMOLED display featured in the previous generation. The watch supports up to 2,000 nits brightness that can drop as low as 1 nits. The next-gen watch from Google has some notable features like Auto Bedtime Mode, heart rate tracking while running, and Loss of Pulse Detection.
