Become an expert in Gmail- Part 4: Know smartlabels
SmartLabels is a new feature that is introduced by Gmail in organizing the user’s messages. In smartlabels, Google makes use of artificial intelligence algorithms inorder to categorize the messages. SmartLabels enhances the users by keeping the inbox clean.
Once the feature is enabled, Gmail automatically categorizes the messages as Bulk, Forums as well as notifications. The messages are categorized according to the following criteria.
Bulk:Bulk is defined as a means of mass mailing. Bulk messages includes promotional materials, newsletters etc.
Notifications: Notifications are defined as the e-maul messages that are directly sent to the user and received by the user.
Forums: The e-mails that are present in the group mailing lists can be considered as forums.
Now the users will have to follow the below mentioned instructions in order to enable the users Gmail account. The detailed steps are given as follows.
Users will have to type www.gmail.com on the address bar of their browser
Then Gmail page will pop up
Now the users will have to enter their user name
After entering the user name, users will have to enter their password for Gmail account
Once the user enters the Gmail, On the top right side, they can see a star like icon known as Gear
Click that icon
Users can now see options such as ‘Mail Settings’ as well as ‘Mail Help’
Click on the Mail Settings
Inside the Mail settings page, on the extreme right corner at the top, users can see a tab named ‘Labs’
Click ‘Labs’
The labs page will be popped up and there the users can see an empty box titled ‘search for a lab’
In the box, users will have to type ‘smartlabels’
Users will have to take a note that there should not be any space between smart and labels
After typing smartlabels and pressing enter will provide the users with the available smartlabels
The only thing that the users will have to do from their point of side is to click on the ‘enable’ radio button that is represented above the ‘disable’ button
And finally at the bottom of the screen, users will have to click on to the ‘Save Changes’ button and you are done!
The SmartLabels options have been enabled on the users Gmail account and the users can now see the smartlabels on the left side of their Gmail account.
