Facebook Downvote button is being rolled out to more users
The new downvote feature is said to be the means using which a user can moderate the comments that are being made on public posts
Facebook, the social media giant has recently confirmed that it was working on a 'Downvote' button for its platform that would allow a user to share their negative feedback on comments n the public page post. Now, as per some reports from Beebom, the company has started introducing the new feature to more number of users.

The report further cites that the downvote button is more or like similar to the feature on Reddit, and this will help the social media platform to receive crucial feedback about the public comments by allowing the user to downvote which the social media giant has named "bad comments". The company is said to be laying trusts in the user base to help Facebook to flag offensive public posts and comments
However, it is worth noting the fact that Facebook has also clarified that the new feature is not similar to the dislike button. This is because downvoting on a comment will ultimately lead to the result being hidden from the user's feed. Users will also be required to give reasons for why they have given the downvote and they will have to choose whether the comment made is "offensive", "misleading", or "off topic".
Further, the new downvote feature is said to be the means using which a user can moderate the comments that are being made on public posts and it is also expected to help the social media giant stop the spreading of misinformation along with the hate speeches on its platform.

The new feature is not being rolled out to all of the users as of now, however going according to the updates, a majority of people receiving the feature are from Australia and New Zealand. Also, as of now, Facebook has also not released any information in regards to the global roll-out of the downvote. It would be interesting to see how the downvote will get a response from Facebook's user base.
