Facebook now adds direct food-ordering feature
Facebook is now launching the ability to order food for pick-up or delivery, directly from it.
Gone are the days when you had to go out to grab a bite. Thanks to various food ordering services available online, you can get any kind of food delivered to your doorstep. Now, Facebook wants to make ordering food even easier.
Well, guess what? Facebook is launching the ability to order food for pick-up or delivery, directly from it. The social network giant has been testing this feature since last year. After receiving positive feedback and adding partners, Facebook is currently rolling out the food-ordering feature everywhere in the US on iOS, Android and desktop. It is unclear when will this feature be live in other countries.
In the US, the social media platform offers a number of food ordering services like EatStreet, Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow and Olo, as well as restaurants like Jack in the Box, Five Guys, Papa John's, and Panera to choose from. So it eliminates the need of searching through multiple places.
From local spots to national chains, Facebook is letting users order food from a number of restaurants. Users can even check out what their friends have to say about a restaurant before deciding where to order from.
Facebook has added a new Order Food section in the Explore menu, where users can browse for nearby restaurants and food options. Users can then select the Start Order option. If the restaurant offers takeout or delivery with multiple services, they can select the service of their preference.
For example, if someone has an account with a particular food order service, he/she can easily order with their existing login id. Or else he/she can quickly and easily sign up, without leaving the Facebook app.
