Asus Computer Inc, the company behind best-selling Google Nexus 7, is planning to announce a new tablet device featuring Dual SIM.

Sales of Asus manufactured Nexus 7 have been strong its inception, and now the makers behind the prolific tablet, plans to launch a mid-ranged tablet with dual SIM.

Aside from Nexus hardware, Asus does manufacture tablets under its own brand name. The Taiwan-based tech vendor has been selling tablets under MemoPad as well as FonePad series. Asus is currently the third most popular tablet maker in Q3, after Apple and Samsung, as per the latest IDC report.

Exclusive: Asus ME175CG DS Dual SIM Tablet Coming in 2014

Back in July, GizBot exclusively told our readers that Asus had planned to launch an Android powered dual-SIM 3G voice calling tablet. While interacting with a senior executive, who wished to remain anonymous, told us that the said tablet will likely to be launched in the month of October.

The executive also shared that the tablet would have a 7-inch display, 8GB of internal storage and 1GB/2GB RAM stuffed inside. We were also told the tablet would be priced between Rs.14,000 to Rs. 15,000 in the Indian market.

Then, the tablet was in the R&D stage, so the executive was rather skeptical to share more details around the tablet. Moreover, the executive hinted at Intel processor, though, he never confirmed on the same.

Now the same tablet has again surfaced carrying a model number. Thus, it is safe to say that Asus is indeed preparing a dual-SIM tablet targeted at India and China.

Earlier today, GizBot spotted a mysterious tablet manufactured by Asus on Zauba, a logistics website that basically tracks imports and exports to and from India. The unknown Asus ME175CG DS will most likely to be a dual-SIM tablet.

As many as 16 units of the device were shipped from Taiwan to Bangalore for R&D purpose. Moreover, the value of the device was listed as Rs.9,590( $153). Interestingly, the model number suggests that Asus might be preparing to add another tablet in MemoPad series.

The original 7-inch MemoPad tablet carries a model number (Asus Memo Pad ME172V), whereas the upcoming tablet (Asus ME175CG DS), follows same chronological order. Does that mean Asus ME-175CG DS is a dual-SIM version of existing 7-inch MemoPad? Only time will tell.

This is not the end to the story, as GizBot found more traces around Asus's upcoming Dual SIM tablet. On October 22, China-based website reported that Asus will be launching "Asus MeMO Pad ME175", a dual-SIM quad-core (Qualcomm) tablet. Asus has already launched a dual-SIM version of FonePad in the Chinese market.

Clearly, Asus is targeting Chinese market, as far as dual-SIM tablets are concerned. Back in November, Asus has come with a new version of FonePad that was originally unveiled at the IFA tech show.
