Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 Hands on Review: Designed To Be Battery Efficient!
Processor
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211 comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. In our tests, a couple of times we had faced issues related to crashing of the device, while browsing using Chrome browser. Hence, the tablet is not capable of playing heavy-duty games, but if your child loves to basic casual games, then the device is not bad at all. We tried games like Temple Run 2, Angry Birds and several board games, most of them survived.
Here's a quick look at the benchmark results. Well, it is to be noted that benchmark results is one of way to check how smooth the device is. We still recommend you to test the device on your own to check the tablet performance in reality.
AnTuTu: 6902
Quadrant: 2010
Smartbench 2012: 1411
NenaMark 2: 50.8 fps
Operating System (OS)
The Galaxy Tab 3 comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. Usually, Samsung made tablets are known for great user experience. The South Korean giant emphasized on custom UI, though the device still supported by Android. When Google has already rolled out Android 4.3, the Galaxy Tab 3 still has an older version of Jelly Bean.
The Galaxy Tab 3 does not give you feel of stock Android experience. What's good about TouchWiz UI, is the home baked apps made by Samsung. You'll find standard Google promoted apps as well as Samsung's own apps. ChatON is an answer to WhatsApp messenger app. S Planner as the name suggests, is a well formatted planner and there is also S Voice, the voice-based personal assistant which still needs to understand Indian accent.
Further, Samsung Link lets you share/play content wirelessly on your Galaxy Tab 3. The UI is slick and intuitive; moreover users would not find the experience dull. You can also use the tablet in portrait as well as landscape mode.
Surprisingly, Samsung Tab 3 does not have any dedicated app to read e-books, however, Play Books app comes pre-installed on Galaxy Tab 3. The redefined UI offers modified Music Player, Video player, Gallery and calculator apps to name few.
We mentioned earlier that Tab 3 supports 3G voice calling and it doubles as a full- fledged smartphone. You can insert 2G/3G data enabled microSIM. You may not like the idea of using the device as phone, but Indian consumers would appreciate an additional feature. The dialer pad let you dial /view from the given contact list.
