Apple Entry-Level iPad with A18 Chip Reportedly Launching in H1 2026
Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a refreshed version of its entry-level iPad in the first half of 2026. While there is no official word regarding the arrival of the upcoming iPad, the latest report brings its launch timeline along with a few more details. Let's dive!
New entry-level iPad Launch Timeline Tipped
According to a report from Bloomberg, the upcoming entry-level iPad has been on the company's product roadmap for a release around the iOS 26.4 timeframe, which runs until May.

The biggest upgrade expected with the new iPad is the move from the A16 chip to the A18 chip. This change is likely to bring improved performance and enable support for Apple Intelligence, the company's suite of AI-powered features.
Earlier claims suggested the updated entry-level iPad might appear beside the M4-powered iPad Air. Bloomberg notes instead that the iPad Air has always been planned to reach stores first, with the lower-priced entry-level iPad coming later.
The delay around the new entry-level iPad may have several causes. These reportedly include chip supply constraints, unsold stock of the current model remaining in channels, and potential marketing adjustments as Apple spaces out tablet launches.
Despite the slower timeline, Bloomberg says the new entry-level iPad hardware is already complete and ready. Apple is therefore expected to release the A18 chip model within this year, once timing and market conditions align with the internal plan.
To recall, the iPad 2025 model comes with a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2360x1640 pixels, offering 500 nits brightness. It is powered by the A16 processor and has a 12MP rear camera. The iPad was launched starting at Rs. 34,900 for the Wi-Fi-only model with 128GB storage. Now, it remains to be seen how much the 2026 model will cost.
