Redmi Pad 2 Leak Reveals a Surprising Downgrade
The Redmi Pad 2 is reportedly in the works and will succeed last year's Redmi Pad, which was the first Android tablet released by Xiaomi. A new leak has revealed details about the Redmi Pad 2's processor, display, camera setup, and operating system.
Redmi Pad 2 Rumored Features
Although Redmi hasn't confirmed any details about the Redmi Pad 2, rumors and leaks about the tablet have already started coming in. The device was recently spotted on the EEC certification website bearing the model number 23073RPBFG.

According to reputed tipster Kacper Skrzypek, who has a good track record when it comes to Xiaomi leaks, the Redmi Pad 2 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. This is an unexpected downgrade, considering that the original Redmi Pad is powered by a Helio G99 SoC.
According to AnTuTu benchmarks, the Helio G99 processor is much superior compared to the Snapdragon 680, with a 35% improvement in overall performance. As far as the GPU capabilities are concerned, the G99 offers a 16% improvement.
As for the display, the Redmi Pad 2 will sport a 10.95-inch LCD display. It will have a resolution of 1200 × 1920 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz. Its predecessor had a similar display as well.
Moving on to imaging, the Redmi Pad 2 will sport an 8MP camera at the rear. The tablet gets another downgrade when it comes to the front camera, as it is rumored to feature a 5MP selfie shooter. To recall, the Redmi Pad came with an 8MP selfie camera.
When it comes to the operating system, the Redmi Pad 2 is expected to ship with Android 13 out of the box. It will reportedly come with a layer of MIUI 14 on top.
Skrzypek hasn't revealed anything about the Redmi Pad 2's battery and storage details. There's no word on the launch timeline either. Considering its appearance on the EEC certification site, we can expect the tablet to debut in the third quarter of 2023.
