Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Specs Leak: Budget Gaming Android Tablet For India With Helio G99 SoC

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 has secured BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certifications, which means it will launch in the country in the near future. Let's look at the leaked specifications, features, expected price, and availability of what appears to be a budget-friendly, gaming Android tablet from Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 To Be Powered By MediaTek Helio G99 SoC

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Tablets in this series pack flagship chipsets, OLED displays, ample RAM, and loads of internal storage. Needless to add, these tablets have hefty price tags.

Considering the steadily growing tablet market in India, Samsung recently secured BIS certification for a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 tablet. The name clearly indicates this tablet belongs to the Samsung A series, which has budget-friendly devices. The Tab A9 will succeed the Tab A7 Samsung launched way back in 2020.

According to the latest leak, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 SoC. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is powered by the MediaTek MT8768 SoC, which is commercially known as the MediaTek Helio P22T chipset.

It is interesting to note that the Helioo P22T is optimized for affordable large-screen Android devices. The Helio G99 SoC, on the other hand, has been traditionally embedded in Android smartphones.

The MediaTek Helio G99 SoC is fabricated on the 6nm node, which means it is thermally efficient. It packs two High-Performance Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Performance Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz, coupled with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company or TSMC makes the Helio G99 SoC. Smartphone manufacturers, who have embedded this chipset inside their products, claim it enables "great gaming all day, plus big cameras, fast displays, smooth streaming, and reliable global connectivity".

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Specifications, Features

The BIS Certification listing of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 mentions the tablet by its model number SM-X115. The listing also revealed this tablet will support 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and FM support.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 is packing a 5100mAh battery, which supports 15W wired fast charging. Both these numbers are quite mundane and seem insufficient for "great gaming all day". Additionally, the Helio G99 SoC does not have the ability to latch onto 5G networks.

It is quite likely that there could be a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus in the works with 5G connectivity. Samsung hasn't officially acknowledged the existence of the Tab A9 series. Hence, there's no indication of price. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is available on Amazon India for ₹14,000
