Now, everyone in India with a 4G enabled smartphone is eligible to use the Reliance Jio SIM card on their device.
The service provider gives free and unlimited 4G data, calls and SMS for the users of the Jio SIM as a part of its Jio Welcome Offer. There are many other benefits along with these freebies until December 31. However, the Jio Welcome Offer is not truly unlimited and it is restricted to actually 4 GB per day, which is also sufficient for most users out there.
The issue right now is that the Reliance Digital or Xpress Mini stores are running out of stock of Jio SIM cards and long queues are piling up in front of the shops for the same. The other issue is that those who have got their hands on the Jio SIM are not able to get the SIM to work. It needs some simple troubleshooting to get it working.
Here, we have come up with some common Jio SIM issues that people are facing and tips on how to get the SIM card to work properly.
Jio SIM is not recognized
In case, you face this problem where your Jio SIM is not recognized, you need to make sure that you have put the SIM in the right slot. The SIM card slot should support 4G connectivity. Usually, in dual SIM phones, the first slot will support 4G at full speed, so use this slot for the Jio SIM.
Maybe, your phone isn't compatible
Then, you need to restart the phone and take the SIM out and insert it again. If the SIM doesn't work even after this step, it means that your phone is not compatible with the Reliance Jio SIM card.
There's no signal
If the SIM card is recognized, inserted in the first SIM slot and the data is turned one, but there's no signal, you need to try these steps. Make sure the network settings are strong and your phone is set to work with the 4G LTE network.
Check APN and mobile network settings
You can try changing the APN settings to Loop Internet if the Jio SIM is recognized. Go to the Settings on your phone and manually set Jio as the network operator. If it doesn't work even then, there should be some issue with the hardware or software compatibility with your phone.
Jio SIM is working, but you can't make calls
To fix this issue, you need to Install the Jio Join app. This will most probably fix the issue. It is important to install this on your phone to make calls using your Jio SIM.
