Reliance Jio vs Airtel offers on Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+: Which is better?
Which offer would you choose?
Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones went on sale in India from March 16. Telecom operators such as Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have announced their offers for these smartphones to attract buyers. These companies are also providing EMI payment options for the buyers and let the subscribers stick to their networks for months together.

The Galaxy S9 with 64GB storage space is priced at Rs. 57,900 and the variant with 256GB storage space in Midnight Black is priced at Rs. 65,900. On the other hand, the Galaxy S9+ with 64GB storage space is priced at Rs. 64,900 and the variant with 256GB storage space and Midnight Black color is priced at Rs. 72,900.

Given that Airtel and Jio have teamed up with Samsung to sell the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, we have come up with a comparison of these launch offers to help you choose the one, which suits you better.
Airtel offers on Galaxy S9 and S9+
If you happen to choose Airtel, then you can get the 64GB variant of the Galaxy S9 by paying Rs. 9,900 down payment and Rs. 2,499 per month for 24 months. On the other hand, you can get the Galaxy S9+ 64GB variant by paying a similar down payment of Rs. 9,900 and Rs. 2,799 per month for 24 months. If you choose to buy the Galaxy S9 with 256GB storage, then you will have to pay Rs. 17,900 down payment and Rs. 2,499 per month for 24 months. Likewise, the 256GB variant of the Galaxy S9+ is available at a down payment of Rs. 17,900 and Rs. 2,799 per month for 24 months.
You can get the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ from the Airtel online store. The EMI payment option includes 80GB of free data for the postpaid subscribers with the rollover option, one-year free subscription to Amazon Prime worth Rs. 999, unlimited voice calls, Airtel TV, Airtel Secure, and Wnyk Music.
The catch is that the Airtel offers on the flagship smartphones from Samsung will work only on the postpaid numbers. If you are a prepaid subscriber, you can either choose to get a new postpaid connection or migrate from prepaid to postpaid retaining the same number.
Reliance Jio offers on Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+
If you use Reliance Jio and want to buy the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ from the telco, you can get 1TB of 4G data for free. Jio bundles unlimited voice calling and SMS benefits for one year at Rs. 4,999. Also, you can get the Jio Prime membership for free. On buying the Galaxy S9+ with 256GB storage space, you can opt for the buyback offer of 70%. To avail this, you need to do a minimum cumulative recharge of Rs. 2,500 in the first 12 months of purchase. You can choose from any prepaid recharge pack offered by Jio.
In addition to this, Reliance Digital outlets offer up to 12 months of EMI payment options on the Galaxy S9+ 256GB variant in partnership with several finance partners. Even the Galaxy S9 and the 64GB variant of the Galaxy S9+ are available as a part of this EMI payment scheme offered by Reliance Digital. In addition to this, the stores offer a cash back of up to Rs. 6,000 on the purchase.
Verdict
Though both the telecom operators are providing EMI payment options with down payment, which is suitable for the Indian consumers and bundles free data and other benefits along with these smartphones, we like the Jio offers. We say so as Jio offers buyback offer under which the operator will pay 70% of the actual cost back to the buyers at the time of exchange. However, to avail this offer, buyers cannot opt for the EMI payment option and have to pay the entire amount upfront.
