To further expand its data capabilities and enhance its footprint across the states of Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, India's largest telecommunications service provider, Bharti Airtel has announced its network roll-out plans for FY 2018-19.
As a part of its network expansion program - Project LEAP, Airtel announced its plans to add more than 9500 new mobile broadband sites in FY 2018-19, along with an addition of 4000 KMs of optic fiber, in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh Circle.
While stepping up the data capacities and taking services deeper into rural and unconnected areas, the massive roll-out would mean the addition of one new site every hour to Airtel's future-ready network in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, the telco said.
"Keeping in mind the fast-evolving usage habits of the new-age mobile internet user and the ever-increasing smartphone penetration, we have committed ourselves towards the availability of best-in-class mobile broadband experience to our users in the progressive states of Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh," Dharmender Khajuria, Chief Executive Officer - Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Bharti Airtel said.
He said, "We will continue to invest aggressively in the region and take our network capabilities to the next level with more than 26,000 mobile sites by the end of this financial year, ably backed by a scaled up and strengthened infrastructure. As the leading mobile service provider in the country, we are glad that we are able to contribute significantly towards the Government's vision of Digital India with our enhanced speeds, reach and coverage."
With this planned roll-out, a number of Airtel's mobile sites in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh would go up by 30 percent to 26,000, further enhancing the speeds and voice qualities. The addition of fresh optic fiber would extend its fiber backbone to 22,000 KMs in the region, supporting the growth of high-speed data services in the region.
The expansion plan for FY 2018-19 follows a fruitful FY 2017-18 which saw more than 5200 new sites being deployed in the Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, extending its mobile broadband footprint to 34000 towns and villages of Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh.
