BSNL Fiber-Based Intranet TV Service with 500+ Live Channels Launched in India: Is Your City on the List?

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced India's first fiber-based intranet TV service, dubbed the IFTV, now available in select regions in the country. This service was first introduced last month alongside the telecom operator's new logo and six other new facilities.

The telco took to its official X (formerly Twitter handle) to introduce the new service, which utilizes BSNL's FTTH network to offer a crystal-clear streaming experience. Users in Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu can get access to over 500 live TV channels.

Unlike Jio and Airtel, which require internet for TV channel streaming as part of their broadband services, BSNL's intranet Fiber Live TV offers real-time streaming without impacting users' data plans.

The telco further says the data utilized for BSNL Live TV will be unlimited and will be not deducted from the FTTH plan. Moreover, this service is available for BSNL FTTH subscribers at no extra cost.

However, the IFTV service is only compatible with Android TVs running Android 10 or later versions. Users can download the BSNL Live TV app from the Google Play Store and register for IFTV through the BSNL Selfcare app. The telco is also said to provide support for popular OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix, and more.

Last month, the telecom service provider unveiled its new logo which symbolises trust, strength, and nationwide reach. In addition, it introduced Wi-Fi roaming, which allows BSNL users to automatically connect to any BSNL FTTH Wi-Fi network while travelling. The telco is also working on launching a nationwide 4G network and plans to introduce a 5G network sooner than anticipated.
