BSNL launches prepaid plans from Rs. 118; revises postpaid plans
BSNL has come up with a slew of new prepaid packs to compete with Reliance Jio.
BSNL, the state-run telecom operator has come up with a slew of new prepaid plans and revised its already existing postpaid plans as well. These plans are available for the subscribers in various circles and offer varied benefits. It looks like these plans are aimed at targeting the recharge packs offered by Reliance Jio. Notably, the new prepaid plans from BSNL are priced at Rs. 118 to Rs. 551.
The most affordable Rs. 118 prepaid recharge pack from BSNL offers 1GB of 3G/4G data and unlimited voice calls including national roaming as well except for the Delhi and Mumbai circles). This plan has a validity of 28 days. Those who recharge with this plan can also get free access to Personalized Ring Back Tone (PRBT) but this is valid only in Tamil Nadu. This plan could be meant to compete with the Rs. 98 plan from Reliance Jio offering 2GB of 4G data for 28 days along with truly unlimited voice calls, subscription to the Jio suite of apps and 300 SMS.
The next pack is priced at Rs. 379 and it offers 4GB of 3G/4G data per day and unlimited voice calls (BSNL to BSNL for 30 minutes a day). This plan has a validity of 30 days and is valid only in Kerala for now. This pack will compete with the Rs. 349 and Rs. 399 prepaid packs from Reliance Jio offering 1.5GB of 4G data per day, unlimited voice calls including domestic, STD and roaming, and 100 SMS per day for a validity of 70 days and 84 days respectively.
The other prepaid pack is priced at Rs. 551 and it offers 1.5GB of 4G data per day. This plan also comes with the PRBT benefit as the Rs. 118 plan and is valid only in Kerala. There is a pack priced at Rs. 444 as well offering the same data and PRBT benefits but it does not offer unlimited voice calls and the validity is 60 days. The Rs. 485 prepaid pack offers 1GB data, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day and is valid for 90 days.
When it comes to the postpaid plan, the Rs. 399 plan has been modified to offer outgoing roaming calls, which was not the case before. Also, the Rs. 799 postpaid plan has been revised to offer 30 GB of data and unlimited voice calls.
