There might be the chance that by 2020 mobile data users in the country will pay Rs 50 per GB of 4G data as compared to Rs 228 in 2016, Analysys Mason on Tuesday said during a webinar by ET.
It said that if any telco has 17- 18 percent market share then the company might be in a position to offer 1 GB 4G data at Rs 30 -40 by 2020.
The firm said LTE usage per user would reach 6- 7GB per month if any telco will offer 1GB data at Rs 50. Added that the telecom operators will also need the significant amount of a spectrum, including sub-GHz spectrum for this.
The report further pointed out, it is because of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio that by 2020, 80 percent of people will afford a 4G phone.
Meanwhile, it was reported earlier that Jio is planning to launch its 4G VoLTE feature phone at its Annual General Meeting on July 21, 2017.
However, industry sources told Gizbot that the company is not going to make any announcement on the same but there might be a chance that the company may announce its new offer.
As we all know that, Jio has shaken the whole industry and all telecom operators have faced losses in revenues, in fact, now the industry is asking for sops from the telecom ministry.
