Reliance Jio Offering Fastest Download Speeds, Says TRAI
According to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio has posted the highest average download speed in September at 21Mbps. That is more than double the speeds of Airtel and Vodafone Idea.

Both Airtel and Vodafone Idea recorded 8.3Mbps, 6.9 Mbps, and 6.4 Mbps download speed, respectively, in September. Although Vodafone and Idea have become one entity, TRAI is still calculating their speeds separately.
However, Jio has witnessed a dip in its 4G download speed compared to 21.3Mbps speed in August. Airtel showed some improvement in the speed from 8.2 Mbps to 8.3 Mbps in September. Vodafone's download speed has also decreased to 6.9Mbps in September from 7.7 Mbps in August.
On the other hand, Idea is leading the upload speed with 5.4Mbps, followed by Vodafone at 5.2Mbps during the same month. Airtel and Reliance Jio recorded 4.2 and 3.1Mbps speed, respectively.
Meanwhile, the state-run telecom operator BSNL recorded 2.7 Mbps speed in 3G speed in September. BSNL is followed by Vodafone Idea with1.9 Mbps, and Airtel network recorded a 3G download speed of 1.5 Mbps. TRAI calculates average download speed every month, with the help of its MySpeed application.
Airtel Remains Strong In Download Speed: Opensignal
On the other hand, private mobile data analytics firm Opensignal pointed out that Airtel is providing the fastest download speeds In India. While Mukesh Ambani- owned Reliance Jio is offering 97 percent 4G speed across the country. According to the firm, Airtel offers an average download speed of about 9.6Mbps. It is followed by Vodafone and Idea 7.9Mbps and 7.6Mbps speeds. However, the firm highlighted that Reliance Jio is providing 6.7Mbps.
Furthermore, Opensignal noted that currently, Airtel is providing the best video experience in India. Vodafone, Idea, and Jio scores second place, all three operators, posted 48, 47.1 and 46 points respectively.
