New Tariff Plans: Vodafone Idea, Airtel, Reliance Jio Hike Rates By 42%

Three of the top telecom operators -- Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea have finally announced a hike in the tariff rates. The announcement comes weeks after both Airtel and Vodafone Idea posted a loss of Rs. 74,000 crore in Q2FY20. So here are the details of all new tariffs plans.

Vodafone Idea has finally announced new plans under which all call rates and data charges will be increased by up to 41.2 percent. Besides, the company will charge 6 paise per minute for outgoing calls to other networks (off-net calls).

In fact, the company's spokesperson explained that "All existing prepaid plans will be replaced by new tariffs/plans. New plans will be available across India starting 00:00 hours of 3 December 2019." The company has announced new plans in unlimited categories with 2 days, 28 days, 84 days, and 365 days validity.

Under unlimited plans, the company has announced four plans, which start from Rs. 149 and goes up to Rs. 399. The Rs. 149 plan offers 2GB data, 300 SMS, and unlimited voice calls (FUP of 1,000 minutes for off-net calls). This plan is valid for 28 days. The Rs. 249 plan offers 1.5 GB/day of data and 100 SMS/ day for 28 days validity.

It includes unlimited calls (FUP of 1,000 minutes for off-net calls). The Rs.299 plan provides an unlimited voice (FUP of 1,000 minutes for off-net calls), 2 GB per day data, and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. Lastly, Rs. 399 plan offers will get 3GB data per day and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. This plan also ships unlimited calls (FUP of 1,000 minutes for off-net calls).

The company has also introduced Combo plans, where users will get talk time of Rs. 38, 100MB data, and voice call at 2.5 paise per second at Rs. 49 for 28 days. Whereas, the Rs. 79 plan is offering talk time of Rs. 64, 200 MB data, and voice call at 1paise per second for 28 days. Apart from that, the company has announced plans with 84 days of validity.

These plans start at Rs. 379 and go up to Rs. 699. Under these plans, Vodafone is offering unlimited calls with FUP of 3000 minutes to 12,000 minutes. It includes 6GB data per day, 1.5GB data per day or 2GB data per day. Furthermore, there is a plan for one year which is priced at Rs. 1,499 and Rs. 2,399.

Airtel New Tariff Plans: Benefits And Validity

Airtel is now offering 1.5GB data per day at Rs. 248. While Rs. 298 plan offers 2GB data per day at Rs. 298 for 28 days. However, for 84 days, users have to spend Rs. 598 for 1.5GB data and Rs. 698 for 2GB data. The Rs. 2,398 plan offers 1.5GB data per day for 365 days. "

Airtel's new plans represent tariff increases in the range of a mere 50 paise per day to Rs 2.85 per day and offer generous data and calling benefits. These tariffs will also be applicable from December 3, 2019," the company said in a statement.

On the other hand, the company has announced plans with limited data. Starting with the Rs. 19 plan, users will get unlimited on-net calling, 100 SMS, and 150MB data for two days. The Rs. 148 plan also provides unlimited on-net calling, 300 SMS, and 2GB data for 28 days. While the Rs. 1,498 plan offers unlimited on-net calling, 3,600 SMS, and 24GB of data for 365 days. Similarly, like Vodafone Idea, Airtel has also launched two plans which offer talk time of Rs. 35 and Rs. 63.65 at Rs. 49 and Rs. 79 packs, respectively.

Reliance Jio New Tariff Plans: Validity And Benefits

After Vodafone Idea and Airtel, Reliance Jio has also announced that all its plans will be costlier by 40 percent from December 6th. However, there are no exact details on the plans.

The company has also issued a statement which says that "Jio will be introducing new 'All in One' plans with unlimited voice and data. These plans will have a fair usage policy for calls to other mobile networks. Although, the new plans will be priced up to 40 percent higher, staying true to its promise of being 'customer-first', Jio customers will get up to 300 percent more benefits."
