Chinese brand Huawei today launched the next generation, Huawei Watch 2 in India. It was unveiled earlier this year at the MWC 2017. The Huawei Watch 2 retains the classic design of the original Huawei Watch but offers new innovative technology for a better user experience.
It basically combines the connectivity of a smartphone, the smarter living applications of a premium smart watch and the detailed performance coaching and tracking of a leading sports tracking device, all in the form of a stylish classical wrist watch. The Watch 2 sports a 1.2-inch display with a resolution of 390×390 pixels. As for software, the smartwatch runs on Android Wear 2.0.
To make you aware, the Android Wear 2.0 OS is compatible with both Android and iOS. Under the hood, the Huawei Watch 2 is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor from Qualcomm. There is 4GB storage capacity and 768 MB RAM in the watch.
The highlight of the Huawei Watch 2 is the SIM card slot supporting a nano SIM. This way, the watch can be used as a standalone device to make and answer calls. There are connectivity options including 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. With 4G, users can download standalone apps as well.
In addition, the watch comes with inbuilt GPS, heart rate monitor, IP68 rating for water and dust resistance etc. The smartwatch also supports Android Pay and Google Assistant. The 420mAh battery with support for fast charging offers a long battery life of 2 days on normal usage, up to 10 hours in "training mode" and 21 days on watch mode along with step tracking.
Talking about pricing and availability, the Huawei Watch 2.0 will be available only in black color option in the following variants in India. The Sports (Bluetooth) variant is priced at Rs. 20,999, the Classic (Bluetooth) for Rs. 25,999 and the Sports (4G) will be sold for Rs. 29,999.
While Huawei Watch 2 Sports (Bluetooth) will remain exclusive to Amazon.in, Sports (4G) and Classic (Bluetooth) will also be available in offline retail stores across India. Additional interchangeable color bands for the watch will also be announced later this year.
