Apple Event 2023: Apple Watch Series 9 launched in India with new S9 SIP, 2,000 nits Peak Brightness

The first debutant at Apple's latest Wonderlust event is its new Apple Watch Series 9. The event saw Apple unveil a range of products with the iPhone 15 series headlining the event.

However, the four new iPhone 15 models weren't the only debutants at tonight's Apple event, with the company unveiling the Apple Watch 9 series and a new Apple Watch Ultra. However, our focus remains on the Apple Watch Series 9.

Apple Watch Series 9 Pricing, Availability in India

The Apple Watch 9 Series price in India starts from Rs 41,900 for the GPS-only aluminium model. The stainless-steel variant of the Apple Watch Series 9 features a starting price of Rs 70,900 for the GPS-only variant.

The Apple Watch Series 9 comes in 41mm and 45mm sizes. The aluminium model arrives in Pink, Midnight, Starlight, Silver, and Product RED finishes. The stainless-steel version of the Apple Watch Series 9 is offered in Gold, Silver, and Graphite shades.

The Apple Watch Series 9 comes in both GPS-only and GPS + Cellular models. Customers can pre-order the Apple Watch Series 9 now, although they will go on sale in India from September 22.

Apple claims that the Watch Series 9 has got a major update with a new S9 SIP (System in Package) now powering the Watch 60% faster than its predecessor. The S9 SIP's CPU features 5.6 billion transistors, a four-core neural engine, and a GPU that's 30% faster than its predecessor.

The Watch 9 series also brings a new Ultra-Wideband (UWB) chip which brings improved location tracking. The new SIP allows Siri requests processed on the device. Siri can now also access Health data to check metrics on the fly

Apple also claims that the Watch Series 9 features an Always-on Retina display with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, which is twice that of the Apple Watch Series 8. The Apple Watch Series 9 is also claimed to offer up to 18 hours of battery life.

Apple has also introduced a new fingerprint tapping feature (Double Tap), which allows you to answer or disconnect phone calls, play/pause, music, and more by taping your thumb and index finger together. The Apple Watch Series 9 will run on watchOS 10, which is the latest version of Apple's smartwatch operating system.

The Apple Watch Series 9 also debuts as Apple's first-ever carbon neutral product, certified by an unnamed third-party. Apple also announced a new FineWoven material watch strap, which has a smaller carbon footprint as compared to leather.
