Fitbit Gets a Gemini-Powered Conversational AI Coach with Insight Explorer—Here’s How to Try It

Fitbit users, rejoice! The wait for Google's AI integration is finally nearing its end. Fitbit Labs, a program offering early access to experimental features, is rolling out "Insight Explorer" to a limited pool of users.

What is Insight Explorer?

Think of it as a conversational AI personal trainer. Powered by Google's Gemini large language model (LLM), Insight Explorer allows you to ask questions about your health and fitness data directly within the Fitbit app. Imagine asking, "How do my active minutes affect my sleep?" and receiving a clear explanation alongside a helpful chart illustrating the connection.

Limited Access for Now

Currently, only a select group of Fitbit users can access Insight Explorer. To be eligible, you need to meet several criteria:

• Fitbit Premium subscription: This feature is exclusive to paying users.
• Android device: As of now, Insight Explorer is only available on the Fitbit app for Android.
• US location with English app settings: This rollout is currently limited to the US and users with the app set to English.
• Age 18 or over: You must be of legal age to participate.
• Fitbit Labs signup: If you meet the above requirements, look for the "Fitbit Labs" section within the "You" tab of your Fitbit app. If you're eligible for Insight Explorer, you'll see an invitation to join the program.
