Huawei's Kirin A1: Chipset Built For Wearables With Bluetooth 5.1
Huawei has officially unveiled its first chipset made for wearables -- the Kirin A1 with an emphasis on connectivity and battery life. This chipset will be featured on upcoming Huawei accessories like smartwatches, wireless earbuds, smart bands and more.
The Technical Aspect
The Kirin A1 is based on the Cortex-M7 processor that claims to consume lower power compared to its contemporaries. The chipset is equipped with multiple sensors like a capacitive sensor, optical heart rate sensor, and a six-axis accelerometer sensor. The company has also confirmed that the Kirin A1 will be a Huawei-exclusive chipset and will not be made available for other OEMs.
A device equipped with the Kirin A1 that claims to accurately measure and monitor physical activities such as running, swimming, and exercising. One of the unique propositions of the Kirin A1 is the fact that it supports both Bluetooth 5.1 and Bluetooth 5.1 LE which consume less power, resulting in better battery life.
The Kirin A1's processor has a maximum frequency of 200MHz and that helps in measuring the heartbeats in real-time with minimal error.
Good For Wireless Headphones
At the launch event, the company introduced a new technology called dual-channel isochronous transmission that uses 50 percent less power compared to a typical wireless headphone and also reduces latency, especially while playing online games.
The chipset also supports Bluetooth ultra-high-definition audio that offers a bandwidth of up to 2.3Mbps, offering loss-less audio transmission wirelessly.
Upcoming Products With Kirin A1 Chipset
Huawei is likely to launch a bunch of wireless headphones and smartwatches and the Huawei Watch GT-2 and the Huawei Freebuds 3 are expected to be the first set of devices that are expected to launch in India. Do note that, these products are already available in select markets like China and Europe.
