Moto 360 Smartwatch Makes Comeback With Snapdragon Wear 3100
Moto 360 smartwatch which made its debut back in 2014, is making a comeback. The upcoming Moto 360 bears a strong resemblance to the earlier Moto 360 smartwatches with its circular design. However, the new smartwatch from Motorola will feature a fully circular display with an upgraded chipset.
Moto 360 Third Gen Announced
The first batch of the Moto 360 smartwatch was popular for its circular design and blending fashion and tech seamlessly. However, the second generation of the Moto 360 didn't get the same feedback, even if it featured a bigger battery and an improved design. Motorola then scrapped the smartwatch series entirely, until now.
The new Moto 360 smartwatch is believed to pack the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset under the hood. It is expected to come to 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage. Motorola has announced other features like 3ATM water resistance, allowing the user to wear the smartwatch in the rain or while swimming. Besides, it will run Wear OS and will be compatible with Android and iOS platforms.
The Moto 360 third-gen smartwatch will flaunt a 1.2-inch OLED display with a resolution of 390 X 390 pixels. The battery of a smartwatch is an important factor and Motorola says the new Moto 360 will pack a 355 mAh battery that can run for a full day. Plus, Motorola is introducing a 'Time Only' mode, which is activated during low battery stages.
At the same time, the Moto 360 will come with a fast charger in the box, which Motorola claims can charge the smartwatch to full in just an hour. Motorola is also packing the smartwatch with NFC connectivity for mobile payments linked with Google Pay.
Moto 360's Big Catch
It's imperative to note that the Moto 360 will not be developed by Motorola, but by another company called eBuyNow. The Verge states that the eBuyNow is "an independent, data-driven consumer electronics company."
This means that eBuyNow will be licensing and bringing back the Moto 360 smartwatch series, under the Motorola brand. At the moment, the price of the Moto 360 third-gen is believed to be $350, approximately Rs.25,000. The smartwatch is expected to go on sale in December in the US. There's been no update when the Moto 360 will be available in India.
