Nothing Ear & Ear (a) Design Leaked – Transparent Design and a New Yellow Color?
Ahead of their official unveiling on April 18, 2024, details about the upcoming Nothing earbuds, the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a), have leaked online. This marks a departure from the company's previous numbered generation system, opting for a simpler naming scheme.
High-End Offering: The Nothing Ear Expected to be the more expensive option at €150, the Nothing Ear appears to be the successor to the Nothing Ear (1). These earbuds boast an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, with the charging case offering IPX2 protection. Battery life is estimated at 7.5 hours with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) turned off, with the charging case extending the total life to 33 hours. The Nothing Ear retains the brand's signature transparent design and will be available in black and white color options.

For comparison, the Nothing Ear 2 has an 11.6 mm driver, Bluetooth 5.3, and AAC, SBC, LHDC codecs. It offers 40 dB noise cancellation, personalized ANC, and 5000 Hz frequency range. Earbuds measure 29.4 x 21.5 x 23.5 mm, weigh 4.5 g, with a 33 mAh battery. Case measures 55.5 x 55.5 x 22 mm, weighs 51.9 g, with 485 mAh battery. Features include IP54/55 resistance, 36-hour playback, fast charging, and 3 mics per bud.
Budget-Friendly Option: The Nothing Ear (a) For those seeking a more affordable option, the Nothing Ear (a) is priced at €100. Despite the lower price point, these earbuds still offer features like active noise cancellation, dual connection support, and quick charging. The battery life of the Ear (a) is estimated at 8 hours without ANC and 38 hours with the charging case.

Interestingly, the earbuds themselves are rated IP54, while the charging case carries a slightly higher IP55 rating. These earbuds will be available in a wider color selection, including black, white, and an eco-friendly yellow variant, although details on the specific ecological benefits of this option are unclear.
With the official launch date approaching, these leaked details suggest the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a) could be attractive options in the competitive True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbud market.
