Sony WF-1000XM6 Full Specifications Leaked Ahead of Launch: New Chip, 8 Mics, More

Sony is set to officially launch the WF-1000XM6 on February 12, 2026, but a recent leak has already filled in most of the gaps. The information comes from Billbil-kun, who has a solid track record when it comes to Sony product launches.

Sony WF-1000XM6 Full Specifications Leaked Ahead of Launch

If the details hold up, the WF-1000XM6 doesn’t look like a radical departure from the XM5. Instead, it seems Sony is focusing on tightening the experience in areas users notice day to day.

A New Processor Takes Center Stage

The biggest change appears to be the introduction of a new QN3e processor, which is said to be around three times faster than the chip used in the WF-1000XM5.

That extra processing power is expected to show up most clearly in active noise cancellation. Sony has been strong in this area for years, and the faster processor should allow the earbuds to react more quickly to changes in your surroundings.

Sony is also reportedly increasing the microphone count from six to eight adaptive mics. Paired with an updated noise-canceling optimizer and three ambient sound modes, the WF-1000XM6 should handle busy, shifting environments more smoothly than before.

Sound Tweaks Rather Than a Full Reset

On the audio side, Sony doesn’t seem to be reinventing its sound signature. Instead, the focus is on refinement.

The WF-1000XM6 is said to use a new driver unit, along with an upgraded DAC and amplifier. The aim here appears to be cleaner detail, better dynamics, and more controlled bass rather than a dramatic tonal shift.

Support for LDAC and DSEE Extreme is expected to carry over, along with a reported 10-band EQ in the companion app, giving users more flexibility to tune the sound to their liking.

Comfort And Fit Get Attention Too

Sony also seems to be revisiting comfort. Leaks suggest a more ergonomic earbud shape, improved airflow, and redesigned insulated ear tips to boost passive noise isolation.

These changes sound subtle, but comfort is often where long-term satisfaction is won or lost, especially for earbuds meant to be worn for hours at a time.

Battery Life And Everyday Features

Battery life is expected to stay the same as the XM5, with up to 8 hours of playback with ANC on, plus 16 additional hours from the charging case.

Call quality is reportedly being improved through a mix of beamforming microphones, bone conduction sensors, wind noise reduction, and AI-based voice processing. IPX4 water resistance and multi-device connectivity are also expected to return, keeping the WF-1000XM6 competitive for daily use.
