Sony WF-1000XM6 Launch Date Confirmed for February 12: Check Expected Specs, Price in India
Sony has confirmed that its next-generation true wireless earbuds will be unveiled on February 12, giving fans of its premium audio lineup a clear date to mark. The company shared a short teaser video on YouTube that reveals the timing of the launch event along with a brief visual hint at the earbuds’ design.

While Sony hasn’t officially named the product, the teaser strongly points to the arrival of the Sony WF-1000XM6, the next model in its flagship in-ear series.
Why This Launch Matters for Sony
The WF-1000XM line sits at the top of Sony’s consumer earbuds portfolio. It’s the range the company uses to take on premium rivals like Apple AirPods Pro and Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro.
The timing is notable too. Sony launched the Sony WF-1000XM5 back in 2023 as a smaller, lighter, and more refined upgrade over the XM4. With competitors pushing deeper into spatial audio, ecosystem features, and smarter noise control, Sony’s next step needs to feel meaningful.
Sony WF-1000XM6 Teaser
The teaser itself is short, just a few seconds long, but it gives away more than it seems. Sony confirms the event will go live at 8 am PT on February 12, which translates to 9:30 pm IST in India.
Visually, the clip shows the silhouette of the charging case along with a close-up of a microphone grille. That grille design lines up with leaked images that have been circulating for the WF-1000XM6, adding weight to the idea that this is indeed Sony’s next flagship pair.
A Noticeable Design Shift Could Be Coming
Recent leaked images, first spotted after a Thai retailer briefly listed the product early, suggest Sony may be changing the look this time around.
The WF-1000XM6 appears to move away from the more circular shape of the XM5 and instead adopt a pill-like form factor. The charging case also looks taller, with a rounded rectangular design and a flatter surface. Based on those listings, the earbuds could be offered in black and a lighter grey or white finish.
Features
The retailer listing, which has since been taken down, also pointed to a familiar but refined feature set. This includes IPX4 water resistance, active noise cancellation, and ambient sound modes.
One detail that stands out is the suggestion of four microphones per earbud, indicated by an extra grille. If accurate, this could mean Sony is focusing on improving both noise cancellation and transparency, two areas where the brand already has a strong reputation.
Sony WF-1000XM6 Price in India
The same listing suggested a US price of $329.99, which roughly converts to ₹30,000. For context, the WF-1000XM5 launched in India at ₹24,990. If the leaked price holds, the XM6 would represent a noticeable jump.
That raises the obvious question: what will justify the premium? Incremental gains in sound quality and ANC may not be enough anymore. Buyers at this level increasingly expect features like spatial audio, deeper personalisation, and tighter ecosystem integration.
Stay Tuned
With the launch just days away, Sony isn’t likely to keep things quiet for long. More official details, and possibly additional teasers, should surface before February 12.
