WhatsApp Rolling Out Redesigned Chat Media Gallery with New Filters: Report
WhatsApp, the Meta-owned instant messaging app, continues to bring new features to enhance users' experience. Now, it is reportedly rolling out a feature that lets users filter the media gallery in their chats. It is currently available to some beta testers on both Android and iOS versions, with a broader rollout expected in the future.
WhatsApp Rolling Out Redesigned Chat Media Gallery
According to the report by wabetainfo, some beta testers can now filter the media gallery in their chats. The shared screenshot shows a redesigned interface for the gallery. We could already filter this section by tapping "Media", "Documents", and ''Links''. With new update, you will get to see a modern interface which will add the chat name to the section title.

The title will help you see which conversation you are viewing at a glance. It will replace the previous filter view, which will be located under the navigation bar. With the new filters, you will be able to view only shared photos, videos, or GIFs instead of all media files. This will help users quickly find specific content, as filtering media files reduces the number of items displayed in the gallery.
The report also mentions that WhatsApp still allows users to filter documents and links, and if no filter is selected, the messaging app will still display the full gallery without excluding any media files.
Some users will also get a separate filter that will show sticker, making it easier to find old stickers and quickly mark multiple stickers as favorites without scrolling through other media files.
As noted, this feature is currently available to select beta testers, and we expect WhatsApp to roll it out officially in the future.
