Microsoft Is Giving College Students Free Microsoft 365 Personal For One Year: Here’s How To Sign Up

Microsoft is now offering Microsoft 365 Personal free for one year to college students, giving them full access to premium apps and Copilot features without paying a subscription fee.

There’s no long list of regional disclaimers visible on the sign-up page right now, and the offer appears to be available to students with a valid college or university email address. After checking with my own mail ID, I was shown a message saying “your offer is on its way”, along with a note that the confirmation email will be sent within 24 hours.

It’s not instant activation, so students may need to wait for their access link to arrive.

What’s Included

This isn’t the basic web-only version that’s usually free. The offer unlocks Microsoft 365 Personal, which includes premium access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and other productivity apps.

AI tools are part of the deal, too. Students get the Copilot sidebar inside supported apps along with advanced features like Vision, Podcasts, Deep Research, and access to image and video generation tools. The plan also comes with 1TB of cloud storage through OneDrive and Outlook, which should be useful for notes, projects, research files, and media.

Important Note on Availability

While the offer page doesn’t immediately block sign-ups from outside specific regions, some Copilot and Microsoft 365 features appear to be limited to students in the US, UK, and Canada.
