Apple Now Has More Than 2.5 Billion Active Devices Worldwide, Following a Record Breaking Quarter
Apple reported that its ecosystem now includes about 2.5 billion active devices worldwide, covering iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and more. The company also delivered record quarterly revenue of $143.7 billion in Q1 2026, underlining sustained demand for its hardware and services across global markets, including strong momentum in India.
According to CEO Tim Cook, iPhone models formed a major part of the active devices count, reflecting how other Apple hardware and services are built around the smartphone. The last quarter’s performance for the iPhone line was described as "staggering", highlighting the continued role of the device family in Apple’s business.

Financial Performance and Active Devices
During the fiscal 2026 first-quarter earnings call, Tim Cook stated that iPhone revenue reached $85.3 billion, up 23 percent year-on-year. Services brought in $30.01 billion, setting an all-time revenue record. Mac revenue fell because it was compared with last year’s major launches, while iPad and wearables still delivered solid contributions.
| Category | Q1 2026 Revenue (in billion USD) |
|---|---|
| Total revenue | 143.7 |
| iPhone | 85.3 |
| Services | 30.01 |
| iPad | 8.60 |
| Mac | 8.39 |
| Wearables, including Apple Watch | 11.49 |
Within hardware, iPad revenue for Q1 2026 stood at $8.60 billion, while Mac generated $8.39 billion. Apple’s wearables category, which covers Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra, produced $11.49 billion. These figures show that accessories and secondary devices continue to play a meaningful role alongside the wider Apple ecosystem.
Regional Trends
India was highlighted as a key market on the earnings call. CEO Tim Cook said Apple achieved strong double-digit revenue growth in India and delivered the company’s best-ever December quarter there, helped by a growing retail network. CFO Kevan Parekh noted that Apple’s installed base in India also expanded at a double-digit rate.
The 2.5 billion active-device milestone for Apple’s ecosystem marked clear progress from previous years. Apple had reported 2.35 billion active devices in January 2025, up from 2.2 billion in 2024. This means roughly 150,000,000 devices were added to the active install base between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026, led mainly by iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
Apple’s latest numbers show a broad ecosystem of active devices, strong iPhone-led revenue and expanding services income. Hardware lines such as iPad, Mac and wearables, together with markets like India growing at double-digit rates, indicate that Apple’s existing strategy of linking devices and services is continuing to support long-term growth expectations.
