Finnish smartphone maker Nokia has already entered the Android market with it's Nokia X series of smartphones, which consists of Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL devices. These smartphones run of Nokia X platform, which is based on Android Open Source Project (AOSP). All these devices are currently available in India. But now the next generation of Nokia X has surfaced online touting new specs.
Dubbed as Nokia X2, the upcoming product from Microsoft owned Nokia was seen on one of the Chinese websites along with AnTuTu benchmark where it scored 11827 points. The data listed on the site shows that the forthcoming Nokia X2 comes with a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 (MSM 8210) processor. It should be noted that all the X series devices are powered by 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 play (MSM8225) SoC.
Additionally, the leak also reveals that the smartphone could have 1GB RAM as opposed to the lesser clocked RAMs used in current X devices. All the Nokia X series smartphones had only one back button, but the Nokia X2 is rumored to feature a home button along with the back button.
One of the addition that will surely make Nokia fans excited is the front-facing camera, the company has used in this particular handset. Apparently, the handset has a two-tone back cover. Rumors have it that the phone will also house a 4GB native storage capacity with a MicrosSD card slot. Accordingly to the website the Nokia X2 is expected to launch sometime in 2015.
The forthcoming Nokia X2 handset looks pretty decent and is obviously an upgraded variant of the current X series. With the addition of the front facing camera and a higher clocked RAM the device might turn out to be one of the best affordable handset next year.
Moreover, in terms of competition, Motorola's Moto G and Moto E will be its perfect rivals.
