JioTag, Bluetooth Tracker Similar to Apple’s AirTag, Launched: Specifications

JioTag, a bluetooth-enabled tracker for devices and accessories, similar to the functioning of Apple's AirTag, was launched on Thursday in India. Using the Bluetooth feature, the device connects to a user' smartphone, and thus can be tracked.

Cheaper and more accessible, the JioTag is expected to compete with Apple's AirTags. This latest launch is supported by the Jio Community Find feature. The JioTag is reportedly lightweight and convenient to use.

Officially listed on the Jio website at Rs. 2,199, the tracker is currently available for Rs. 749. Users can also opt for cash on delivery for certain selected pin codes in India, but others have to opt for online prepaid methods.

White in colour, the JioTag comes with an extra battery and lanyard cable in the box.

JioTag: Features and Specifications

The JioTag comes with a replaceable CR2032 battery that offers up to one year of battery life.

The tracker uses Bluetooth v5.1 to connect to users' smartphones.

The main use of these trackers is to place it in one's handbags, purses, cabin baggage or more to keep a track of these belongings. For other items, the lanyard cable helps attach the tracker easily.

When it comes to tracking distance, the tracker offers tracking till up to 20 meters indoors and up to 50 meters outdoors.

It's a small compact size and doesn't weigh too much. The JioTag weighs 9.5 grams and measures 38.2mm x 38.2mm x 7.2mm in size.

For those who are prone to misplacing their phone, can alternatively use the tracker to find their phones. On tapping the tracker twice, the user's phone its connected to, starts to ring. Point to note here is that it makes the phone ring even when the phone is in silent mode.

The Jio Community Find feature supports the JioTag. This entails that that when users are unable to find the connected items at the last disconnected location, they can list their JioTag as lost on the JioThings application on their smartphones and the Community Find feature will search and report the location of the lost JioTag back to the handset.
