OPPO Reveals ColorOS 16 Ahead of Find X9 Series Launch: Here’s Everything New
OPPO has announced ColorOS 16, the latest version of its Android-based operating system. The update will debut on the company’s upcoming Find X9 Series and later roll out to other OPPO smartphones globally.
According to OPPO, ColorOS 16 focuses on three main areas — smoother performance, refined visuals, and stronger cross-device connectivity.

Performance and Animation Improvements
The new version introduces what OPPO calls Seamless Animation, a system aimed at reducing frame drops and improving visual consistency when users open, close, or switch between apps.
Two key frameworks support the update: the Luminous Rendering Engine, which handles parallel visual rendering, and the Trinity Engine, which manages hardware resources for gaming and multitasking.
ColorOS 16 also extends performance optimization to budget devices through a project internally referred to as Project Breeze. It’s designed to improve responsiveness and memory efficiency on entry-level hardware.
Visual Refresh and Customization Options
The overall design of ColorOS 16 adopts a lighter and more minimal layout. The interface uses softer color transitions and lighting effects inspired by natural elements.

Users can now set live photos or short clips as wallpapers. Font choices can be auto-suggested by the system’s AI to match wallpaper tones. The update also expands the Always-On Display feature to show lock screen visuals and key notifications in a single view.
A new feature called Flux Home Screen lets users resize app folders into different shapes. As layouts are adjusted, the surrounding icons rearrange dynamically to maintain spacing and symmetry.
Expanded AI Editing Features
ColorOS 16 adds AI Portrait Glow, a new camera feature that enhances skin tones and balances lighting in low-light portraits. It joins existing AI tools such as AI Eraser, AI Unblur, and AI Reflection Remover.
The built-in video editor now includes Master Cut, which provides access to trimming, filters, and manual controls for color, brightness, and contrast without relying on external editing apps.
Cross-Device Integration
One of the most notable changes is improved multi-device support. The company’s O+ Connect system now works with both Mac and Windows PCs, allowing users to manage files or control their computers from their phone.

Screen Mirroring has also been expanded. Users can now cast up to five mobile apps at once and interact with them using a keyboard and mouse, intended for productivity use cases like meetings or remote work.
Rollout Timeline
ColorOS 16 will launch first on the Find X9 Series before reaching other OPPO devices in the coming months. The company hasn’t shared a detailed rollout schedule yet. You can check out the expected list of devices getting the update here.
