Netflix Spotted Testing Variable Playback Speed For Android
Netflix, the popular streaming service has been spotted testing a new feature that will provide variable playback speed. With this option, it will let users consume a larger part of a movie or series in the least possible time. Several Netflix users have reportedly received this new feature in the Android app of the streaming service.

While there is no confirmation regarding this service from Netflix, it remains unclear where there will be an ability to adjust the playback speed on other platforms apart from its Android app such as iOS, web and Android TV.
It is reportedly testing the variable playback speed feature via a server-side update for some users. After testing it successfully, we can expect the feature to be rolled out to all Netflix for Android users.
Netflix Variable Playback Speed
As per the tweets shared by various users, there is a new Speed option on the Netflix for Android app's playback screen. On clicking on this option, it opens a pop-up that lets users change the playback speed of the content. It has options to both slow down the playback speed to 0.75x instead of the normal 1x speed or make it faster from 1x to 1.25x.
Furthermore, a report by Android Police notes that this option to control the playback speed on Netflix for Android app is in pilot testing for over a week. However, we are yet to get an official confirmation on the same from the streaming service.
What We Think
It is interesting to see that Netflix will bring a feature that will let users control the playback speed of content. This will let users watch their favorite series or movies quickly in the least time or slowly. This move comes after the rollout of the Netflix service for Rs. 199 onwards for a single device. We can expect to get an official confirmation from the company regarding this feature soon.
