WhatsApp group description rolled out to all Android and iOS users
WhatsApp gets the much-awaited group description feature.
Back in February, the beta version of WhatsApp for Android received the group description feature. This feature is one of the highly anticipated ones by the group admins after the platform enabled sending chat invite links so that members with the link can join any group. With this feature, group admins can add a public description so that members can read the info before joining the group.

Now, the group description feature seems to be available for all the Android and iOS users of WhatsApp. It can be seen on the stable Android version of the app with the version number 2.18.79 and stable iOS version 2.18.31. This feature has been spotted by WABetaInfo and revealed on its Twitter handle and blog. In addition to the group description feature, it looks like the Android beta version 2.18.84 gets more new features.
Group description feature
Lately, WhatsApp has been focusing a lot on rolling out updates to the group admins giving them a lot of control. With the rollout of the group description feature, the admins can leave a group info, which will be visible to the public so that the new members with the invite link to join the group can decide if they would like to join the group or not.
In the previous reports, we have heard that the group description feature will be accompanied by another one, which will impose a limit on who can edit the description. This way, the admins of WhatsApp groups can deny the members of the group from editing the info. Also, new controls for the admins called WhatsApp Privacy was said to be under testing though we have not come across the same until now.
Locked recordings
The Android beta version of WhatsApp 2.18.84 brings an updated UI for voice recordings. As reported earlier, the locked recordings feature was spotted in this beta version hinting that the platform is still developing the ability.

Bug fixes and more
Besides the group description feature for all Android and iOS users and the new locked recordings feature under testing on Android beta, WhatsApp is also said to bring a slew of minor bug fixes and emojis to the Android beta version 2.18.83.
