WhatsApp Testing Splash Screen Feature To Push Ads On Its Business App
WhatsApp seems to be testing a new feature for its app. Dubbed Splash Screen, the feature has been spotted on the Android beta 2.19.297 version. The Light Splash Screen is a new page that pops up when the app loads initially for the first time. Users can spot the WhatsApp logo displayed on a white background. The new launch screen was first spotted in the WhatsApp for Business beta version.
WhatsApp Splash Screen Feature
The WhatsApp Splash Screen feature was first spotted by WABetaInfo for the Business beta version for iOS 2.19.110.21. The tracking site also confirmed that the Splash Screen feature would show up for Android beta users as well. Users can get this version by enlisting in the WhatsApp Google Play beta program or via the APKMirror link.
📝 WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.298: what's new?
— WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) October 18, 2019
Date and Event Dark Bubbles (under development)https://t.co/cRf0juPAus
NOTE: The Dark Theme feature is not available yet and it will be enabled in future.
Apart from the Splash Screen feature, WABetaInfo also notes that the Android beta update will support the Payments feature in other countries, like Indonesia. However, only the wallet feature will be supported for now.
WhatsApp Dark Splash Screen
The much-awaited WhatsApp Dark Splash Screen feature is also underworks. But it remains uncertain if it'll show up or not for the time being. Although the tracker spotted the Dark Splash Screen feature, it still hasn't been enabled for users yet, indicating it could still be under development.
The WABetaInfo says that "some users might get the Dark Splash Screen, even if the Dark Theme is not enabled. It's a bug that also makes the bubbles dark, sometimes." The site further notes that the Dark Mode isn't listed yet as there's no release timeframe yet. This could further suggest it is under development in varied beta releases.
WhatsApp New Features
The upcoming WhatsApp beta has many new features to offer. Some of the other new features include a self-destructing messages feature, where users can set a time and the message will automatically get deleted. The update will also have the payments feature, which is already under tests here. There's no release date for the WhatsApp update for the time being, but with more new features being spotted, the roll out is imminent.
