Xiaomi had already taken baby steps to mark their entry into the US by launching a few of their accessories in the country via their official Mi Store. The latest addition to the list of the Xiaomi products to live in US is the Yi Action Camera. The Action Camera was initially launched in China earlier this March.
The Yi Action Camera sports a 16MP Sony Exymor R BSI CMOS image sensor which can record Full HD (1080p) videos at 60fps. It weighs up at 72grams and comes with 64GB of onboard storage. Apparently the Action camera from Xiaomi is directly competing with the GoPro Hero range. However the ones from Xiaomi are darn cheap when compared to the likes of GoPro.
The Xiao Yi Action camera comes with a 155° ultra-wide angle lens which can record upto 90 minutes of footage on a single charge. Furthermore the camera is equipped with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth which enables you to control it directly from your smartphone. However you would need to download the Yi Action App on your mobile to live stream footage onto your smartphone. As expected the Yi Action camera comes with a waterproof certification upto 40metres - similar to the GoPro.
The Yi Action Camera is priced at .95 (Rs 6,500 approx.) via Amazon and is available in two colour options - Arctic White and Lime Green. There is also a Yi Action Camera Kit which comes bundled with a Selfie Stick and Bluetooth Remote at 9.95 (Rs 9,099 approx.)
Recently two other Xiaomi handsets were spotted clearing FCC Certifications - Redmi 2 Pro and the Mi4. So expect Xiaomi to launch these smartphones in the country shortly. Other than the US Xiaomi has recently entered Africa in partnership with Mobile In Africa.
