Apple Announced a “Scary Fast” Event for October 30: What to Expect?

Apple is set to hold a special event, named "Scary Fast," on October 30, where it's expected to unveil new Mac products and showcase its continued integration of generative AI technology. This event marks a shift from Apple's usual morning events, scheduled for 5.30 a.m. IST.

The Mac and M3 Chip Speculation

There's been considerable speculation about the unveiling of new Mac devices powered by Apple's M3 chip. Back in June, Apple introduced a larger MacBook Air featuring the M2 chip, priced at Rs 1,34,900. This followed an earlier upgrade to the 13-inch MacBook Air with the same processor. The "Scary Fast" event precedes Apple's earnings call on November 2, adding to the excitement.

Generative AI Integration

In addition to new hardware, Apple is actively working on integrating generative AI features into its products and services. A recent report from Bloomberg highlighted Apple's long-standing involvement in generative AI, referred to as Apple GPT. This project, led by senior vice presidents John Giannandrea, Craig Federighi, and Eddy Cue, focuses on enhancing Siri with generative AI capabilities, set to launch as early as next year.

iOS 18, the next iteration of the iPhone operating system, is expected to incorporate numerous generative AI functionalities, enhancing user experiences. Apple is also exploring opportunities to infuse AI into its Xcode developer's application, emphasizing its commitment to AI-driven innovation.

The iPad Roadmap

Apple's iPad lineup is also seeing significant updates. The Power On newsletter from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reveals that Apple has been diligently working on three new iPads: the 11th gen iPad, 7th gen iPad mini, and 6th gen iPad Air. While an upgraded iPad Pro is a possibility, it may come later, with Apple focusing on refreshing regular iPads first, possibly incorporating the M3 chip.

These new iPads are expected to make their debut around March 2024. There's also speculation that Apple could discontinue the first-gen Apple Pencil and exclusively offer the newly launched Apple Pencil with USB-C, along with the Apple Pencil 2nd gen.

The newsletter also hints at the discontinuation of the iPad 9th gen due to its continued use of a lightning port. Apple's recent shift to USB-C, seen in the latest iPhones, suggests a gradual phase-out rather than an abrupt discontinuation.

While no new iPad-related products are expected until March 2024, Apple may have other launches on the horizon. Reports indicate that a new 24-inch iMac could be introduced as early as next week, offering consumers more options in Apple's ever-evolving ecosystem.
