Nokia and Flipkart have entered a new strategic partnership to launch Nokia smart TVs in India. A new report shows that Flipkart will be the retailing platform for the Nokia smart TV range. The new Nokia TVs will feature audio powered by JBL. Nokia will compete with other smart TVs in the Indian market like OnePlus, Xiaomi, Motorola, and more.

The Nokia and Flipkart partnership is supported by Flipkart's consumer insights. Flipkart will look into the domestic manufacturing and the end-to-end sales of the Nokia smart TV range. Reports suggest that Flipkart has permission to use the Nokia brand for selling the smart TV range.

Flipkart had earlier done a similar marketing and sales pitch with the Motorola TV as well. Flipkart and Motorola had entered a similar partnership to announce a Motorola branded television, where the Motorola 75-inch Smart TV was launched with a starting price of Rs. 1,19,999 on Flipkart.

Flipkart says that the new partnership with Nokia is based out of consumer insights. Flipkart says the insights "found that poor sound quality and experience is a major pain point for customers purchasing TVs." This is why the Nokia smart TV range will feature an audio support system built by JBL, Flipkart says. The Nokia TVs will be the first time where JBL is foraging in the Indian TV market.

The Nokia and Flipkart partnership for the smart TV range hasn't revealed any other details. Other specifications of the TVs like the screen size, display range, apps, price, and more haven't been disclosed yet. It's hard to say how the JBL audio system will function, which is largely dominated by Dolby in the Indian TV market.

Flipkart says that the partnership with Nokia aims for further expansion in India. As a well-known global brand, Nokia will join the league of smartphone-makers bringing out televisions. The recently launched Mi TV from Xiaomi, OnePlus TVs, Motorola TVs, and more are trying to win the Indian customers. One should wait and see how well Nokia fare in the crowded TV segment.
