HP Spectre is the thinnest, but not the lightest

The HP Spectre is quite slimmer and lighter than the MacBook Air measuring about 0.4 inch thin and it weighs in at 1.11 kg. On the other hand, the MacBook Air measures 0.52 inches thick and relatively lighter weighing in at just 0.92 kg.

Both have got their own USP

The Apple offering is more attractive, but the keyboard gives a different opinion. The glass trackpad looks large enough and it is flat. On he other hand, the keys on the HP laptop are of a normal height giving more comfort and the trackpad is a bit confined.

    Macbook Air packs more pixels

The Apple MacBook Air features a 13.3-inch wide-screen display that is LED-backlit and its resolution is 1440 x 900 pixels. In comparison, the HP Spectre sports a 13-inch Corning Gorilla Glass IPS display that supports a FHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

    Spectre is quite powerful

The hardware makes a prime difference in both the laptops. The MacBook uses Intel Core M processor with Turbo Boost feature to increase the clock speed. The Spectre employs a more powerful Core i5 or i7 chipset. The latter has 25 percent more power than the Core M platform.

    HP Spectre has 8GB RAM

While there is Intel HD Graphics 6000 card and 4 GB RAM in the MacBook Air, there is Intel HD Graphics 520 card and up to 8 GB of RAM in the HP laptop.

Choice of OS: Windows or MAC OS X

Though the HP Spectre seems to be better in terms of hardware, the MacBook Air running on the Max OS seems to have a better set of software and features in comparison to its competitor. But, even the Windows 10 platform comes with a decent set of features.

    Both have Webcam

In the camera department, HP Spectre features a HP TrueVision HD Camera, whereas the MacBook Air adorns a 480p FaceTime camera.

HP Spectre trails behind the MacBook on battery

The battery in the HP Spectre is a 41.4 Watt unit whereas that on the Macbook is a 45 Watt unit. Approximately, the Macbook's battery can last for over 2 hours more than the battery life of the HP Spectre that packs more pixels.

Final Verdict: HP Wins over here on specs

HP Spectre is more powerful with a better hardware. By saying hardware we mean the processor and 8 GB of RAM. Also, the device has a nice design and it is thin. However, the MacBook AIr is better when it comes to the battery life.
