Apple iPhone 16 Event Highlights: AirPods 4, Apple Intelligence, iPhone 16 Series, More Announced

Apple just concluded its mega 'It's Glowtime' launch event. The event saw the launch of several new products including the iPhone 16 series, Apple Watch Series 10, and AirPods 4.

Additionally, we also saw revisions to older Apple Products like the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and AirPods Pro Max. Apple also announced software updates coming to the older AirPods Pro and Apple Watch Series 9. And while the iPhone 16 series is set to get some interesting new video recording capabilities, Apple Intelligence also played a major role in today's event.

iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max Launched in India

The iPhone 16 Pro models offer dual SIM support (eSIM in the US; Nano+eSIM globally) and runs on iOS 18 with Apple's A18 Pro chip, promising significant performance gains. The 6.3-inch iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9-inch Pro Max feature Super Retina XDR OLED displays with up to 120Hz refresh rates and peak brightness of 2,000 nits.

The triple-camera setup includes a 48MP primary lens, 12MP ultra-wide, and 12MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom. Additional features include a 12MP front camera, IP68 rating, Wi-Fi 6E, USB-C, and charging up to 27W. Storage options reach up to 1TB. The iPhone 16 Pro price in India starts from Rs 1,19,900, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is available from Rs 1,44,900 in the country.

iPhone 16/16 Plus Launched in India

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus feature a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with up to 2,000 nits peak brightness, Ceramic Shield protection, and Dynamic Island. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The iPhone 16 Plus offers a larger 6.7-inch display with similar specs.

Both models include an Action button and a new Camera Control button for easy photo and video management. They have a dual rear camera setup: a 48MP wide-angle lens with f/1.6 aperture and 2x in-sensor zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens with autofocus. The front-facing 12MP TrueDepth camera supports Spatial video and photo capture.

Connectivity options include 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C. Storage options go up to 512GB. The iPhone 16 price in India starts from Rs 79,900, while the iPhone 16 Plus is available from Rs 89,900 in the country. All four iPhone 16 models will ship in India from September 20, while pre-orders will start September 13.

Apple AirPods 4 Launched in India

The new AirPods 4 were introduced with significant updates, including Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) in the higher-end model, which was previously exclusive to AirPods Pro and Max. The AirPods 4, powered by the H2 chip, feature improved sound quality, personalized spatial audio, and a redesigned fit with replaceable ear tips.

They shift from Lightning to USB-C charging, with the higher-end model also including a case with built-in speakers for integration with Apple's Find My app. Both versions offer wireless charging and up to 30 hours of battery life.

In India, the standard model is priced at Rs 12,900, and the ANC version at Rs 17,900, with three months of complimentary Apple Music. The event also introduced new colors for AirPods Max and updates to the AirPods Pro with health-focused features and hearing aid capabilities.

Apple Watch Series 10 Launched in India

Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 10 and a new variant of the Apple Watch Ultra 2. The Series 10 features a 30% larger OLED display, is 20% lighter than the Series 9, and is made from aerospace-grade titanium. It includes a new S10 chip with a quad-core neural engine, on-device Siri, and faster dictation.

Health features include Sleep Apnea detection, water depth, and temperature sensors. Battery life remains at 18 hours with faster charging. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 now comes in a durable satin black finish, made from recycled Grade 5 titanium, and includes enhanced GPS, swim tracking, and a depth gauge. The Apple Watch Series 10 starts at Rs 46,900, while the Watch Ultra 2 is priced at Rs 65,600 in India. Both are available for pre-order now, with global sales starting September 20th.

Other Announcements

Apple Intelligence, a major highlight of the "It's Glowtime" event, integrates new AI features into Apple devices. First introduced at WWDC 2024, these features will be available for the iPhone 16 series and last year's iPhone 15 Pro models. Key additions include Writing Tools, notification summarization, and an object removal tool. These AI capabilities will be accessible in beta with the release of the iOS 18.1 update next month.

Apple also announced new colour options for the AirPods Pro Max. Additionally, the AirPods Pro will also get some interesting new features for hearing protection. While the Apple Watch Series 9 will also receive the Sleep Apnea feature on the Watch 10 Series. Apple also introduced faster 25W wireless MagSafe charging for the iPhone 16.
