Last week Gionee in India teased a new smartphone launch at an upcoming event scheduled for August 22. The company sent out an invite, which hinted towards a selfie-centric smartphone.
Though the company didn't disclose the name of the phone, we reported that it would unveil the Gionee S6s smartphone as we spotted the phone on Indian import and export site Zauba.
A week ahead of the launch of the phone, Gionee has released another teaser poster of the phone on social media. The new teaser again highlights the selfie camera, for it says, "The incoming one..The new one, which is redefining "premium selfie" means to you." The teaser also confirms the launch of Gionee S6s on August 22.
It is believed that the Gionee S6s is the company's S6 Pro variant for India. However, nothing can be confirmed until the company launches the phone in India.
As far as its specs are concerned, here is a quick look at the expected specs of the Gionee S6s:
Metal body design:
The phone seems to have a metal body forming a unibody design. As can be seen in the image, the power button and the volume rocker would be placed on the right side of the smartphone.
As can be seen in the teaser suggests that the upcoming Gionee smartphone will come with a fingerprint scanner placed below rear camera.
MTK Helio chipset with 4GB RAM:
If the phone turns out to be a variant of Gionee S6s, it might as well feature a MediaTek Helio P10 Chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage.
8MP selfie camera with flash:
Considering that the S6 Pro flaunts a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera, both with LED flash, we expect the S6s also to have similar optics.
Rose gold variant:
Also, the phone is expected to be available in rose gold color variant, which has become a popular colour ever since Apple launched it back in 2015.
Speaking of connectivity options, the Gionee S6s smartphone may or may not have USB Type C port. If we consider that Gionee S6 Pro sports a Type-C USB port, the upcoming phone might as well have it, though we are not sure. Otherwise, it should have standard connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and more.
Gionee had launched the S6 Pro in China for 1,999 Yuan (Rs 20,000 approximately). We expect that the company would price it in India close to its China pricing.
