Pixel 7a vs Pixel 7: How does Google’s latest Pixel phone stack up against its flagship counterpart?
Google recently announced the Pixel 7a at its latest I/O event alongside the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. The Google Pixel 7a comes with a ton of improvements over its predecessor in the camera, chipset, and display departments.
With the improvements to the Pixel 7a, it is hard to tell it apart from the Google Pixel 7, which was unveiled back in October last year. So, let's tell you the difference between the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7a.

Pixel 7a vs Pixel 7: What are the differences?
Both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7a feature a similar design, although the Pixel 7 does have a flagship build. The Pixel 7 is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and back, white the Pixel 7a only offers Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the front. The Pixel 7 also features an IP68 rating as opposed to the IP67 rating on the Pixel 7a.
Up front, the Pixel 7 has a larger display, although the rest of the display specifications are the same for both phones. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7a also share the same Tensor G2 chipset with the same RAM and storage configuration.
The major differences between the two phones are observed on the camera front. Now, we haven't tested the camera on the Pixel 7a, so we'll go primarily by the stats. First off, the 64 MP camera sensor on the Pixel 7a is smaller than the Pixel 7's 50 MP primary shooter. Additionally, the Pixel 7a's ultrawide camera has a slightly wider field of view.
There are also differences in the selfie camera, but we'll wait for our full Pixel 7a review to withhold judgement there. Considering the Pixel 7a isn't quite a flagship-grade smartphone like the Pixel 7, we expect the latter to pull ahead in terms of camera performance due to the better hardware.
However, considering the role software playing in Google's camera performance, we can't imagine this difference will be much. Software, battery life, and charging support are also largely similar across both Pixel phones.
Google Pixel 7a vs Pixel 7: Pricing
The Google Pixel 7a price in India is set at Rs 43,999 for the sole 8GB/128GB model. In most instances, we'd recommend going for the Pixel 7a, considering just how close it gets to the Pixel 7. However, this isn't one of those instances.
The Google Pixel 7 price in India is currently set at Rs 44,500 on Amazon India and Rs 49,999 via Flipkart. Considering the Pixel 7 is the more premium offering, we feel it is worth the extra price at the moment.
