These Motorola Phones Could Get Android 16 with Hello UI – Is Yours on the List?

Google launched Android 16 earlier than usual this year, pushing it out in June—well ahead of the typical Q3 release cycle. Now, as we approach July, the spotlight shifts to manufacturers like Motorola to see how quickly they’ll deliver the update to users. While the brand isn’t known for fast rollouts, it has officially confirmed a list of phones in India that are in line for Android 16.

If you own a Motorola device and are wondering whether your phone made the cut—and what the new update might bring—this is where things currently stand.

Motorola’s Android 16 Rollout: What We Know So Far

First, the honest truth: Motorola isn’t the fastest when it comes to Android updates. And that hasn’t really changed with Android 16. While some brands are already running public betas, Motorola is still in the early testing phase — and mostly outside India.

There’s no official beta program open here yet, and no confirmed rollout dates either. But if we go by past patterns, the updates typically begin around August to October, and they roll out in waves.

Motorola also rarely makes a big announcement — you usually only find out your phone got Android 16 once it shows up in the settings.

If you’re the impatient type, your best bet is to keep an eye on Motorola’s software support page and look under the “Next OS” section for your model.

What’s New in Android 16?

Android 16 might look familiar on the surface, but it brings some thoughtful upgrades under the hood. The highlight is Live Notifications, which let apps like ride-sharing and food delivery update you in real time — no more constantly opening the app to check status. This system will likely expand across more apps and brands in the months ahead.

If you use hearing aids, Android 16 now gives you more control. You can switch from the hearing device’s mic to your phone’s mic during calls, making conversations clearer in noisy settings. There’s also a built-in hearing device menu for easier access.

On the security side, Advanced Protection is now baked into the OS — one tap activates powerful safeguards against scam calls, unsafe websites, and shady apps.

For tablet and foldable users, Android 16 also lays the groundwork for desktop-style multitasking, letting you resize, move, and run multiple apps side by side — though this feature will roll out later in the year.

Motorola’s Hello UI, which runs on top of Android, tends to keep things close to stock. So, expect the core Android 16 experience, with the much awaited Material 3 Expressive design at a later date.
