Xiaomi 13 Ultra All 50MP Quad Rear Camera Setup Has Large Sony IMX989 And IMX858 CMOS Sensors

Xiaomi has confirmed that the next-gen quadruple rear camera setup on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will have the Sony IMX989 And IMX858 CMOS sensors. The Leica-branded camera setup comprises four 50MP sensors.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is merely days away from being launched, and Xiaomi has started teasing key specifications of the flagship Android smartphone. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun posted a few posters on Weibo that reveal the details of the massive camera bump of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra Gets A Single 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX989 And Three IMX858 CMOS Sensors

Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 13 Ultra next week. The Chinese tech giant has managed to keep the specifications of its flagship Android smartphone under wraps, with only a few details leaking out.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will have four cameras at the back. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, in an official Weibo post, has now revealed that the smartphone will retain the 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX989 sensor for the primary camera, as seen on last year's Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

Alongside the 50MP Sony IMX989 sensor, Xiaomi has embedded three 50MP Sony IMX858 sensors. The official posters mention that these sensors will have advanced noise-reduction features and better HDR capabilities.

Xiaomi has assured that all four cameras at the back of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will "capture, night scene shooting, and 8K video". The CEO added that the camera setup will deliver a "professional" experience with a "full focal length" per camera.

Incidentally, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is not the first Android smartphone to feature the Sony IMX858 CMOS sensor. The sensor is embedded inside the Honor Magic5 Pro, paired with a .5x telephoto lens.

In the case of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, the Sony IMX858 sensor has been paired with the ultrawide camera (with PDAF), the 3x telephoto, and the 5x telephoto.
